Rijksmonument Het Hart van Haarlem

Historic building in central Haarlem. This air bnb was first built in the 18th century and has more recently been converted into apartments and the air bnb. It offered walking access to the town , train station, and airport bus. Several supermarkets are across the road. We enjoyed a superb breakfast and a very comfortable bed. The hosts are very hospitable people. Well recommended.

There is no air conditioning - a desk fan is provided to help cool the room. This was sufficient for us , but the room may be hot in the summer.

The location was perfect for visiting the historic district. The room was spacious and charming, full of colorful details to look at and enjoy. The bed was very comfortable. The room had great big windows overlooking a garden with a comfortable table and chairs that made it pleasant to sit and appreciate. We were greeted by a bottle of wine which was great to have after travel. Communication was great, with helpful instructions before arrival on how to access the property, and in the room on the surrounding area. There were many restaurants and places to enjoy within easy walking distance and ready access to the tram.

It is a bed and breakfast; some people might miss the reception and facilities of a hotel setting.

Great location in the middle of Haarlem

Breakfast, as others have said, is good and sufficient enough that you could make a packed lunch from it if you wanted to. The kitchen has good gadgets like a coffee maker and kettle etc. The oven was particularly good too. I liked the way the sun shone into the room in the morning. It was nice that there was a bottle of wine and beer for us when we first arrived. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were clean.

Although the room was clean, it was really only superficially so. The room (we were in Room C) really needs a thorough clean. The struts under the TV table were covered in dust, under the settee was a horror story and the radiator by the door is very grubby. An hour or two of deep cleaning would completely resolve these issues. We chose this property because it looked a bit quirky - which it is - and Esther is a lovely lady and I do not wish to harm their business, but the room FELT dirty. (The carpet in the bedroom area isn't nice - if it was mine, I'd replace it with the parquet flooring that was in the living area.)
