Hotel Antica Cascina Del Golfo

From the moment I stepped out of the car and encountered the view, everything about the Antico Cascina del Golfo exceeded my expectations. The room was new, clean, well-lit and extremely comfortable. And the infinity pool looking out over the Golfo del Castellemare was nothing less than spectacular. Two small but much appreciated touches were the excellent hair dryer (most hotel hair dryers are weak and ineffective) and the bountiful Sicilian breakfast. If it were located elsewhere, the hotel would be a very comfortable, attractively appointed and well run establishment. What makes the Antico Cascina del Golfo a memorably great place to stay is the stunning view and the way the hotel architecture makes use of the setting, so that at almost all times you feel as if you are in the most beautiful place in the world.

The only drawback that I encountered was the steep road leading up the hill to the Antico Cascina del Golfo. The road is no problem for guests with a car, but for those who, like me, come without a vehicle, getting to beaches and restaurants requires taking either a taxi or the 5-euro/person shuttle. You can walk to the town of Scopello fairly easily, but walking back up the hill, while readily doable, is a workout.

My stay here was perfect, the host and family went above and beyond to ensure me and my friend had a comfortable stay, arranging taxis, shuttles, transfers to and from the airport. We read lots of things online saying that you would need a car to explore this area which we did not have but this was no issue at all because our host ensured we had transport to everywhere we needed at the times we requested. The breakfast was delicious, the lunches were also so yummy and the host went the extra mile to find us tea bags for when we craved a cup of tea in the evening. The room was so clean and lovely, the shower was so nice and powerful too. There was plenty of space around the pool which was kept clean at all times. I would love to come back.
