Disappointed, could be an amazing property
The location of the property is very good, overlooking Perranporth and an easy 5 minute, 1.5mile drive down to the centre.
Not walkable unless you are very fit as it’s at the top of a steep climb.
The property is externally, very well presented and maintained.
There is a small garden area but this has a two seater bench, no table and chairs to sit out on.
The kitchen it’s appliances and the bathroom are to a modern standard and worked well.
As other reviewers have stated (on other booking sites) the bed is dated and very uncomfortable leading to a week of poor sleeps, the bed squeaks and the mattress is very hard. The bedding was old and tired. Both the quilts and pillows were flat.
The property is not at all welcoming when you enter, there wasn’t a welcome pack with any information about the owners, property, it’s appliances or surrounding area, this is a first for us.
Apart from a couple of dishwasher tablets and a sponge, there were no cleaning items supplied meaning that after a 5-hour drive, we were unable to wash our hands. Given the current covid concerns this is odd.
The dinner service was of a poor standard with dirty and scratched plates and cups, the cups being that scratched and stained no end of cleaning would have helped, we were forced to buy our own cups in order to have a drink when we arrived. Cutlery and plates were at a minimum making it impossible to be resourceful with the dishwasher. The Dishwasher economy mode was not working. It also needed salt and rinse aid, neither of which were provided.
There is no table and chairs to sit down and have a meal at, yes there are two stools to sit on at the island, but these are for occasional use, not to sit down and eat all your meals at. There is a single chair which is reviewed as being broken (we didn’t try to recline it but it leans to one side when sitting in it.) This could be removed and a small table and chairs for two could be put in easily and cheaply.
There is no Wi-Fi in the property (we knew that) but the mobile data was almost none existent too (O2, two devices), something to be aware of if data is required.
Would we stop here again? No, definitely not as it stands. If a decent comfortable bed and a table and chairs were in situ then definitely yes. This property has the potential to be an amazing holiday let. It was basic and didn’t provide the slightest hint of a holiday welcome.
