Highland Lodge

Very comfortable stop-over while travelling on the Bergen line from Bergen to Oslo. Room was well decorated and comfortable with a separate hallway for boots/coats and a spacious bathroom. Easy to find from the train station (about a 10 min walk max) Wasn't able to use the restaurant but the bakery in the morning was very welcome indeed. Nice balcony with a view was a bonus and excellent value for money compared to stays in the bigger cities. I was staying out of the ski-season so it was quiet but I would imagine it gets quite busy in peak times. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Self check-in machine a little fiddly - and room doors open outwards onto the hallway which is common in Scandinavia but did cause a few hallway collisions. Room is a little small but for me alone it was fine - could imagine for a couple over a longer period it might get cramped.

Everything except it was too hot inside.

Too hot in the bar/restaurant and especially the rooms. Nobody to ask at reception about cleaning rooms etc. auto check in and check out felt like a hostel not a hotel. Poor look to not have a real person at a front desk. If I’d known this I’d have not booked there.

The location was great, there is a restaurant and a caffee in the hotel which is very convenient. Also, pool, jacuzzi and sauna were an awesome addition.

The bed was not entirely comfortable and there was quite some noise from the road. The curtains/blackouts don’t really do a lot in terms of avoiding the sun. The main facilities (entrance, cafe, restaurant, pools, etc) are great but the hallways and the bedrooms are quite outdated.

Location & pool , very friendly staff especially the breakfast girl who had lived & worked in Colorado

No breakfast include or swimming towels included building site view & no coffee machine in the room. No international stations on the tv & no Amazon or Netflix
