Amazing Dinner, Onsen and Room

We had a wonderful stay. The ryokan is beautifully maintained and exactly as shown in the photos. Everything was spotless, and the overall standard was excellent (200 years old and they managed to make it feel like a cosy museum). The food in general was absolutely incredible — one of the highlights of our stay. The onsen was also amazing, especially the unique black water, which is said to be very good for the skin. What truly made the experience special, though, was the staff: everyone was incredibly kind, warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. We also truly appreciated the lovely honeymoon gift, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience even more memorable.

All the meals were excellent and the staff did their best to communicate with us in English/Japanese. The room and onsen are good.

The place is farther away from the city center so you will have to order taxi. The facility is a bit dated for their bathroom/toilet so the ventilation will take awhile to clear the air.

The onsen. Deep reddish-black iron-rich water, unlike anything else we bathed in across three weeks in Japan. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding. One of us is vegetarian, and the kitchen adapted both the kaiseki dinner and the traditional breakfast properly - replacing dishes rather than just omitting them, so the meal still felt complete. The beds were genuinely comfortable, which is not always the case in a traditional room. And they drove us back to the station in the morning without being asked.
