Hôtel & SPA Château de La Côte - Brantôme

This was an opportunity to sample a large chateaux/hotel & was much enjoyed. Chateau de la Cote is situated within lovely grounds and the wide-open country-side. Our choice fulfilled expectations! Very impressive was the service throughout dinner and the food/wine was tasty. Similarly breakfast, taken in somewhat different, but fascinating surroundings. One wondered the original use of some of the rooms. All facilities were good, as expected, and our stay was a fine adventure!

Its tired inside the chateau & sadly doesn't quite live up to the beautiful grounds & exterior. Mismatched and very basic bedrooms. Given it has spa in the title, we went expecting some spa facilities but unfortunately nothing was available. They did "rent" us pool towels (€4 each) but neglected to give us the pool area entry code (we had to go back for this) or tell us the pool was freezing, not heated. It was such a shame as the weather was perfect for a swim/hot tub and lounging by the pool on the sun loungers. It has huge potential and could have been so much nicer with a little more effort.

We were in the top turret bedroom with gorgeous personal roof terrace above delightful bathroom. Good restaurant too.

The location and grounds were lovely. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot.

We thought we were staying in the chateaux but ended up in the gate house. There was no heating in the house so it was very cold.
