Eliathos Hillside Retreat was a wonderful place to stay. We had a good mixture of relaxing and taking in some culture and history of Archanes and Heraklion. Archanes was a 15 minute walk, Heraklion was a half hour drive, or slightly longer bus ride. Audrey our host looked after us so well. She helped us with recommendations of where to eat, catch a bus and anything else we wanted to know. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was a really lovely holiday.

The layout of our room was wired. i.e. you could not dry and have a mirror too so you can style them as there was not power supply. The room was not as clean. Overall ok. Location + views very nice.

The pool was nice and gave good views of the countryside. A cat and her kittens were daily visitors which delighted my girls. Apartment was naturally cool even without air con. Comfy beds and sofa. Daily cleaning.

The kitchen was ill equipped - eg I had to ask for kitchen cloths, there were no oven gloves, no ice cube tray, salt, pepper or other basics - we didn’t feel able to cook anything but pasta and heat pizza. The bin area smelled or old food. The apartment was pretty dark and felt dingy, though to be fair it was made clear it is lower ground floor. Lots of mosquitoes. Mosquito screens were broken on arrival, though we did get them to fix them. The drive to the town is on very narrow roads so not great with larger cars - we didn’t want to try it at night. It’s a steep walk without pavements.

Excellent staff especially Audrey who is the best asset of the place Beautiful setting

Very uncomfortable sofa bed even with duvet under the bottom sheet No bedside light The room was full of light at night from outside and inside If you made use of the sofa bed there was nowhere to sit if four of us had been staying it would have been odd Breakfast fruit was dull mainly apples ..we had breakfast in a touristy cafe the day before with excellent yoghurt figs peaches strawberries and bananas The whole place was a case of style over substance
