Beautiful setting & buildings. Staff very friendly & helpful. As it was a special occasion they upgraded us and gave us vouchers with a card which we were overjoyed about - very nice touch.

Unfortunately our lovely suite overlooked the event courtyard and noise really carries there. Really think you should only house people on that courtyard side if they’re at the event, otherwise it interferes with the calm quiet we were there for (and kept us awake). The room was also missing water or any kind of fridge/mini bar, and the TVs not allowing screencast was annoying. The bed also was a bit uncomfy. The fact there is zero disabled parking (and your car park is full when there’s an event especially) is pretty shocking - though I must compliment your Night Duty reception staff for moving his car for us. Alas the spa also lets you down - almost all the lockers are broken (so people can’t keep valuables safe), as is the swim costume dryer. Meanwhile the pool and jacuzzi area was way too cold, there weren’t enough seats, and we were really surprised that treatments were all booked by time we arrived - we’ve found in most other spa hotels that spots are held to upsell to guests as a treat when they’re there. I really hope the Management team aren’t offended by what I’ve said. Hotel was great generally, and staff are wonderful. Just thought I should feedback honestly, so you have a chance to consider fixes, with thanks.

This is a lovely period property, and the newer elements have been designed sympathetically. The food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious. The rural setting was great.

The barman was very rude, accusing us of not paying for coffee when we had paid one of his colleagues. It really spoiled our wedding anniversary celebration to be accused of stealing. The waiters/waitresses were mostly sweet but very young and were not being well managed, so that for example our starter arrived before our drinks at dinner. The Tudor building is very atmospheric but it means the floorboards are creaky and thin, so it’s not completely quiet. We were v disappointed that there was not a jacuzzi: as other reviewers have noted, it’s just part of the swimming pool so the water is cold and not relaxing. The toilet in the changing rooms was broken and the showers were not clean. Most of the lockers were broken. Sadly, the hotel needs investment and better management.
