Hostel las Palmas

This is a basic but very friendly hostel very near the centre of Vilcabamba (which is a very small town anyway). I had the place to myself with two other backpackers and we quickly gelled. And the owner even came to dinner with us!

To be honest I've never been a huge fan of dogs, especially if they're barking at you as you're trying to check into your accommodation!

Kitchen availability for breakfast, small pool.

Only one car parking spot. Not good curb appeal.

I loved my stay there very much. The host was warm and welcoming and we had many great conversations and she provided plenty of recommendations for hiking in the area which is one of the main reasons I was visiting. Its a very relaxed vibe. I had no problems and it met/exceeded my expectations. I speak spanish and never had a problem with communication but I believe the host can speak english as well. Vilcabamba is an interesting place and has amazing hiking and outdoor adventure in the area. If you are coming I recommend staying here - great value.

The landlady was nice and helpful.

The mattresses are old and smely.
