(1) I loved was the old traditional architecture. The design, look, fittings and feel were wonderful. That’s why I booked this hotel in the first place. (2) Location. On the promenade but not facing the water.

Managerial honesty! It was non existent and unapologetic as well. The owner knowingly double booked my room the first night of my 5 night stay because I booked my trip back in January! Why did he do this?? To secure both bookings! The lady in charge of the hotel, (Madam Jane she called herself!) decided to create an elaborate lie instead of just telling me the truth! She gave me reason to believe the situation was resolvable when it never was resulting in 3 hours lost of sitting and waiting for a solution which was never coming. I shared the explanation with a neighbouring hotel and was told it was a simple case of a double booking which has happened before. In the end, the owner appeared labelling himself the brother of the owner but later accidentally revealed his identity (more lies!) and offered the night for free but NO apology because “what happened has happened”.

This hotel is a beautifully converted old house that has retained its historic character, including its traditional roof design. It brought back fond memories of my childhood and gave the place a unique and nostalgic charm.

The electricity main supply was cut off . We had to spend a night without power.

The location was perfect, the staff were great and everyone made sure we had a lovely time and felt safe. The staff surprised me for my birthday too. I loved it. The owners were also very responsive when we had any issues.

The design is very nice, traditional swahili style.

The bathroom was a disaster, taking shower is not easy. The AC did not work well, no temperature or fan speed regulation possibility. The place would badly need a renovation. It is really overprices for the comfort offering.
