The Astor Suites

I enjoyed my stay at the Astor Suites. The room and bathroom were more than adequate for my needs - very spacious, very thoughtfully designed, modern, and the kitchen was well equipped. Location is perfect, within walking distance to many restaurants, and having the bistro on site was very handy.

Would have liked more natural light in the room but there is not much that the hotel could do about that.

The staff were lovely, the room was easy to get to, clean and roomy. It is a great size for 2 single people to share as we could sleep with a good distance between us.

Overall a great room for the price but there were a few things that need attention. Coffee machine is broken. The push handle doesn't stay down and therefore no coffee. Aircon works but is very noisy especially at night, sounded like a storm on a tin roof. The shower screen needs silicone underneath it or something to seal it, as it floods the bathroom floor with water escaping through it.

The staff went beyond their duties i parked my ute in a very tight spot and could not get out the spot in the morning. The receptionist and Mat got me out of the parking spot.

The word "suite" is a misnomer. A big room with a bed; one armchair and a very small desk with a cheap chair. The marketing stuff on the front window, shows a settee and a dining table with 4 chairs, which should have been there. Shelving totally over the top, and the rest sadly lacking. Access is not customer-friendly having to carry luggage from anywhere in the carpark around the corner into the building and up the stairs...although the lift helped. We don't recommend this place except for the pub being next door!!
