Palomar 3 is one of six rental homes nestled within the Gran Canaria organic farm “Las Tenerias” and surrounded by palm trees, orange groves, green spaces, and vegetable gardens. In the fall of 2019, all residential units were completely renovated and lovingly designed in the traditional Canarian style, each one individual and unique in its design and furnishings.
The organic finca “Las Tenerias” (translated as “the tanners”) is 230 years old and exudes charm and incredible allure. It is part of the small hamlet of Arteara and is located in the heart of a nature reserve and biosphere reserve in the south of the island. The finca is surrounded by an impressive landscape, where green groves of palm trees and reeds create a fascinating contrast to the rugged rock formations. To the right and left rise the rugged, nearly 1,000-meter-high cliffs of Amurga, and the view opens up to the beautiful Fataga Valley (“Baranco de Fataga,” also known as the Valley of 1,000 Palms) all the way up to the nearly 2,000-meter-high volcanic peaks in the center of the island. The quaint little village of Arteara, with its archaeological sites, and the “Baranco” behind it—with its giant palm trees and impenetrable reed beds—can be explored from the finca with a leisurely walk.
The certified organic finca practices sustainable agriculture and, across 30,000 m², features orange and fruit orchards, as well as areas for growing vegetables, lettuce, and herbs, its own chickens—including a breeding program for the endangered Swiss Appenzeller Spitzhauben breed—and several bee colonies producing the finca’s own honey. All finca products can be purchased directly and absolutely fresh every day at the on-site farm store, which also offers everything you need for your vacation.
The scattered, detached living units, together with the finca’s main house, form a small finca village with spacious communal areas: First and foremost is the 150 m² natural pool (completion in fall 2020), which operates without chlorine and is situated on a fantastic sun-drenched plateau. The swimming pond is fed by the finca’s own spring—a true privilege on the southern half of the island. Next to it is the spacious barbecue area, perfect for everyone to gather around a table—whether for a cozy breakfast or a Canarian tapas evening—as well as the more secluded chill-out area with its own pool, nestled among orange trees, gardens, and palm trees. All of the finca’s houses also feature spacious, private terraces, including their own outdoor grill kitchens, ensuring complete privacy within the finca village.
The finca’s location captivates with its absolute tranquility, impressive landscapes, and direct access to the island’s mountainous interior, far away from the tourist hotspots. Nevertheless, it is very conveniently located. In just 15 minutes (13 km) via a well-maintained road, you can reach the beaches and nightlife of Playa del Inglés, the sand dunes of Maspalomas, or the shopping in San Fernando. Toward the mountains, the picturesque and well-known village of Fataga is just 5 minutes (5 km) away. Everything is also easily accessible via bus line 18, which stops right in front of the finca.
