Fairmont Windsor Park

1) spa facilities, particularly the open-air swimming pool, 2) opulently refurbished hotel, including the dining areas, 3) location near Windsor park

1) very limited options for twin bed rooms, 2) narrow wardrobe stuffed with various objects (even a yoga mat), leaving insufficient space for clothes, 3) the salt room in the spa would have been perfect for relaxing if not for its multitude of loudly slamming doors

The hotel building and decor are of the standard expected of the Fairmont brand of Hotels. The spa and gym area are expectional.

Our room (£500 p.n) looked out onto a unattractive facilities area which seems to be a gathering space for hotel staff throughout the day and night. I was woken up on both nights by staff leaving their shifts and gathering for a chat in this area. This needs attention. The Brasserie is a lovely addition to the hotel, however the wine list is far below standard (I think I sampled at least six wines - red and white - none of which were drinkable). The waitress and the staff at the restaurant that evening, had no idea about wines and made the excuse that the somellier was not working and no-one else knew anything about wine (THIS NEEDS ATTENTION IN A HOTEL OF THIS STANDING).

Considering the price you pay: - Staff could be friendlier - Grounds could be in better shape (all brown grass) - Breakfast should be better and have far more choice - Wellness area should be bigger and more separated

Food, facilities, design and cleanliness were all at a luxury standard. Valet was very helpful and was probably best staff encounter out of everyone.

I called ahead to arrange an early check-in as we were travelling with a baby, and was assured a room unoccupied the previous night would be ready on arrival. It wasn't, we waited 20 minutes and the cot we'd requested wasn't in the room either and had to wait over an hour to get it.
