Xavier and Patricia are the best hosts you can imagine. Both of them are very interesting people with a lot of interesting stories to tell. The atmosphere is like with a family, you can make jokes and talk the whole evening. You can expect a 5-Star menu if you eat dinner with them because both are excellent cooks. Xavier already has a lot of animals in his lodge, you can expect to see a lot of cute impalas and giraffen and more. Xavier has 14 cute dogs which will join you and brigitten up your day. Both are helping you out with whatever plans you have or even if you don’t have plans. Stay more than one night otherwise you will regret it. The lodge is about 1.5h away from Krüger and just a 5min drive away from Jessica the hippo. If we ever come back to South Africa we will come here again for sure!! Nicht nur super Zimmer, sondern auch eine tolle Umgebung und ein aussergewöhnlicher Gastgeber. Die Hippomoon Lodge ist nicht nur eine Unterkunft, sie ist ein Erlebnis. Es lohnt sich, mehr als eine Nacht zu bleiben.

Séjour parfait , juste une nuit malheureusement plus que nos attentes .le personnel est au petits soins, animaux autour du lodge et repas excellent merci à Xavier

Séjour trop court

The hosts are exceptionally friendly and hospitable and the location is excellent. There are free roaming animals on the property and the host is willing and able to take you on game drives etc.

This is not a lodge, this is basically a large house that the owner has converted into a hostile. We booked a private chalet and we were told we were being upgraded to the main house. The main house is a large house with multiple rooms off of the main living area where you will be staying. This is very good if you are interested in meeting new people and interacting with the host, however it affords basically no privacy. The host also has multiple dogs that live in the house with you, they are permitted to swim in, and drink from the pool, and are free to roam through the kitchen while dinner is being prepared. They are very cute and friendly, but it is important to understand that they will be involved in all aspects of your stay. The host prepares dinner himself, it was good and costs approximately $30 USD per person. The main issue for us was cleanliness of our room and the unexpected nature of the stay. The sheets clearly had not been cleaned and the bathroom was also not clean (a lot of hair in the shower drain, used soap, etc). This is not a bad accommodation if you are interested in a hostile type environment, and if the cleanliness problems were resolved. While i personally would not stay here again or recommend it to others, if you are interested in a very social type of stay where you interact heavily with the host and other guests, this could be a good option for you.
