Good value quirky alternative to boring chain hotels

It's a beautiful old manor house that has been and continues to be lovingly restored by the owners. A real delight to be able to stay in such a place. Each room is different and decorated / furnished in a traditional French antique style with thoughtful & lovely detail. The en-suite was completely modernised. It is the owners' home and they work hard to make you feel welcome. There is a limited window to check in so they can manage things around cleaning rooms / preparing dinner, breakfast etc but then you can come and go as you please. Parking is no problem. The grounds are wonderful. We ate dinner one night and that was fabulous. There is no menu to choose from, it's whatever has been prepared by one of the owners - the pear and chocolate tart will stay in my memory for a long time (hopefully the calories not as long!!)

Pillow roll uncomfortable. Staff hard to find.

it is not suitable for business travelers. they are not able to provide invoice. and the location is too far away from central, the taxi cost double because it comes from center.
