I absolutely loved the location. It was so beautiful, even without snow. I loved getting to it via cable car, it was such a unique experience. The pillows being shaped into mountains made me smile. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. It's perfect if you like hiking, and there are different paths you can take, each clearly marked so you can find your way back.
There was no lock on the room door on either the inside or outside. As a female traveller, travelling with my twin sister, this made me feel unsafe. It meant when we went hiking, we had to take all our valuables with us - nobody wants to carry a tablet when hiking. We put a chair against the door when sleeping.
There was no fridge for the guests.
The cable car to the lodge is very expensive - £78 return for both of us, so if you're booking this for a budget stay like I did, factor this in.

This place is good for the soul.
The view, the food, the warm welcome and the helpfulness of the staff: everything is wonderfully authentic.
We can't wait to come back.

It's a very special place in the middle of nowhere. We saw a sunset like we never saw before. It is definitely a trip we will never forget.
We had an amazing and genuinely one-of-a-kind experience, and the location itself is very special. What we did not like was not really the concept of the place, but that we were not informed clearly enough beforehand about what to expect.
This is much closer to a mountain hut experience for hikers than to a conventional hotel stay. Had we known that in advance, we would simply have prepared differently and probably enjoyed it even more.
The rooms were lovely, but there was no private bathroom, no towels were provided, and the walls were extremely thin, so you could hear almost everything from the neighbouring rooms. We were also there during renovations and did not receive the room we had booked. Instead, we were given a room with bunk beds. As I suffer from claustrophobia, the tight sleeping arrangement was uncomfortable for me.
The food was good, but again quite different from what we expected. There was some typical Austrian food, but much of the cuisine was Nepalese. We enjoyed it, but this was not something we had understood before arriving. If you do not want the full buffet/menu, you need to eat before 17:00. As we were not very hungry and did not want to spend around €40 per person on the full menu, we ended up having dinner at 5 pm, which felt extremely early.
The costs also add up very quickly. For three people, the entire trip came to around €500. This included roughly €120 for the lift, paid parking, food and drinks. There were no water bottles available, so even water was bought by the glass at around €2 each. Our food bill was about €120 even though we mainly had starters, with beer, water and other drinks adding considerably to the total. It felt as though almost everything came with an additional charge.
It is also worth knowing that the property is located on a plateau. You do not have the dramatic view straight down the mountains that we had imagined from the photographs.
