Royal Hotel

everything from when we arrived to when we left was excellent, the locals welcomed us and our dog, to the point that a regular who didnt have a dog kept treats with him to give to visiting dogs, I only met him once and never got his name, but he made us welcome an accepted from te word go. the room was perfect and all the staff went the extra mile to make our stay memorable, we will go back again as soon as we can. Even the other guests seemed to know that it was required to be friendly and welcoming to everybody.

I cant honestly say it could have been better, unless we were offered free drinks for the entirety of our stay, just kidding, not needed.

Comfortable hotel in good location. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and we had a very nice evening meal.

The room was comfortable and clean but the bathroom could do with a little modernisation as it was rather cramped with a shower over the bath. Breakfast was a little limited if you didn't want a full English cooked breakfast. Some fresh fruit and croissants would be a nice addition.

the breakfast was good, lots of choice of cereal, teas etc, even offering porridge! lots of hot water. sink big enough to wash my hair in. 'comfortable' chairs in the room. Dinners were delicious, tried the option of the Tai food and liked it.

There was no light over the table and 'comfy' chairs, so couldn't sit there aftr dark. no light near the wardrobe. No coat hooks or hooks in bathroom. there were cups not mugs in the room and the fingers of coffee make enough for a mug. The carvery was a bit chaotic; the meat was fine, the stuffing was hopeless, the roast potatoes were not cooked, the sliced potatoes were at the wrong end as was the gravy, the wrong impliments were in the veg. dishes.

Excellent food, location and staff.

Hotel bedrooms were very dated and are in need of upgrading , including heating system that woke everything up on two occasions.
