Kao Feng Hotel

The room was newly remodeled and gorgeous.

The breakfast buffet at the local restaurant was okay but not great.

We were pleasantly surprised by the clean, recently renovated rooms and hotel. It looks much better than it does on the pictures. There also was a free shuttle service to both the train and bus station.

For breakfast you have to walk uphill to a different building and it’s only available until 9 am.

Our room on the third floor was newly renovated. It was quite spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had hot water at all hours (sometimes it needed to run for a few minutes but I think this may be the general case for the hotels in the area). The pricing for the accommodation seems to be comparable to others in the area, which is high for Taiwan but this is a very touristed location with limited accommodations so they charge what they can. The front desk workers were very helpful (it is easier if you can communicate with them in Mandarin or Taiwanese but if you can't, translator apps can be very useful here!). The breakfast voucher was good for a local restaurant up the hill toward the train station (my understanding is that the other hotels have this arrangement as well).

The only thing we didn't like was that there was an unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom pipes, that could probably be remedied by the hotel in a few different ways: by pouring hot water down the drain(s) for at least 30 straight seconds, and/or cleaning the drains by taking them apart and removing hair, debris, and buildup with a plastic drain snake.

Ze hebben geen eigen locatie voor ontbijt. Je krijgt een voucher mee om bij een restaurant in het centrum te ontbijten. Dat was echt bar slecht. Smaakloos, zeer beperkte keuze, niet eens een bakkie koffie. Daarnaast zijn er volop werkzaamheden aan het hotel. Hopelijk betreffen deze werkzaamheden voor een nieuw - eigen! - restaurant faciliteit.
