Location was lovely and peaceful with easy access to Etang du Dordu. Where we were staying was also peaceful and well equipped.

The Gite has obviously been very popular and well used, so some elements are a little tired and could do with a refresh.

The gite is a beautiful renovated old granary and so has all its original charm on the outside. The location is so wonderfully peaceful and the nearby lake Dordu is beautiful and not at all touristy. It is so quiet that at night you can hear the wildlife, particularly the owls and birds of prey. The swimming pool, although shared with the other two gites, was warm enough and large enough and mostly quiet enough to enjoy either a swim or a mess around with a ball and inflatables or to just lie by the side in the sun. Eddy and Cindy, the hosts were very welcoming and communication with us throughout our stay was excellent. On our arrival we were greeted personally by them and also received a welcome package of food and wine, which was a lovely gesture. The welcome folder provided plenty of information about places to visit and eat. The gite was well equipped for self-catering. The gite and its location on the whole felt comfortable and safe. There was enough wi-fi to stop the teens from complaining. A shack by Lake Dordu is a nice friendly place for a drink run by an English family who are very informal and we enjoyed a barbecue there with live music.

There was nothing to dislike about Gite la Grange from our point of view but there are a few things to mention to give an accurate view. The inside of the gite does not reflect the charm of the exterior as it is a little dated now but this is not a major dislike as it was very comfortable and clean and the surroundings more than made up for this. The advertising of the property was perhaps a little misleading in terms of the use of the pool which is labelled as a private pool but is shared with the other guests on site. This was not a problem in our case as we were mostly the only ones there but in the high season, this may be an issue for those wanting exclusive use. The pool rules are strict and so you cannot lounge around with a drink by the side of it whilst reading your book, as food, drink and large inflatables are forbidden but again, the surrounding gardens are such that this is not a major issue as they are just as nice to sit in to eat and drink. The area, apart from Le Shack at the lakeside, is largely non-English speaking and so some basic French is useful if not essential to communicate with local shops and the hosts themselves.
