This luxury coastal cottage has two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite, and a twin room with a family bathroom—white fluffy white towels are supplied. The beds are super comfy and dressed with Melin Tregwynt woollen blankets. The upper floors provide stunning views of the ragged silhouette of Dunstanburgh Castle.

Another set of French doors open out to the front of the cottage, where a perfectly positioned table and chairs allow you to take in the sea air and listen to the gulls. Don't be surprised if the enticing aroma of oak-smoked kippers wafts from the nearby L Robson & Sons. There's also handy off-road parking for two cars.

It's just a two-minute stroll to the harbour. In a world of overly manicured gastropubs, there's the wonderfully take-me-as-you-find-me Jolly Fisherman, a simple pub serving well-priced crab sandwiches that are perfect washed down with a pint of Black Sheep ale.
