Spring break vacation with 5 adults and 5 kids. Booked before Ian hit Fort Myers Beach and stuck with the reservation with the hopes of having the house renovated after hurricane damage (they have a marked water line ABOVE the sliding patio doors from the hurricane). Becky and Todd worked their magic and you'd have no idea the place went through the devastation it did. All 3 units (1 for each of our families) were in perfect/clean condition, not to mention coordinated. They did a tremendous job, everything you would need/want in a VRBO rental. The outdoor areas (balcony, patio, pool, dock, landscaping, etc.) were also in excellent condition and plenty of space to relax while the kids swam and grandpa fished off the dock. We've booked numerous VRBOs in the past and, again, you'd have no idea that a hurricane ripped through the area. Due to the incredible progress of the house we were a bit shell-shocked by the devastation that still exists on the Fort Myers Beach island but you realize very quickly that the community is doing the best they can to recover in their new "normal". The canal that the house is on still has debris in it from the hurricane but was a non-issue for us knowing the resources are most likely needed elsewhere. The houses surrounding the property are in various steps of repair but, again, there were no issues with noise and/or smells. It was a easy, 5 minute walk to the beach where we'd go for sunrise/sunsets with the family. We then did our "beach days" at Lynn Hall Beach as that area had food trucks, music playing and just a good overall vibe to it (also saw dolphins swimming). We did a paddleboard/kayak excursion south of the area as well, plenty of water activities to take advantage of (jet skis, pirate ship boat ride, etc.). There are very few actual restaurants on the FMB island open/rebuilt but various food trucks available and a short drive onto the mainland has restaurants to eat at. Becky gave great suggestions! All in all, this property met ALL of our needs. We went down to rest and relax and that's exactly what we did. While the area still needs a lot of work they want and need tourists to help revive things quicker so I would recommend. This property is truly a diamond in the rough. Thanks Becky and Todd!
