Wow, what an incredible experience.for us on our first trip to Costa Rica! The spectacular views and morning sounds of the forest from the balcony will be something we remember for the rest of our lives. The hosts were very accomodating with a later check-in after our flight was delayed and we appreciated them guiding us up to the property in the dark. The description of the drive up to the apartment is no joke. Even the 4WD Hyundai Tucson we rented was challenged by parts of the drive up. I would recommend a vehicle with higher clearance if it's an option. Thank you to the owners for sharing this special place with us. Also a big thank you to Adan (the father in the family living next door) who jumped in to assist when we found we had a flat tire on the morning of our departure. Highly recommend a stay here for a one of a kind experience!

This studio apartment was perfect for us. We were surrounded by lush, vibrant flora with three different trails to explore, but the true highlight was the spectacular view of the volcano. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace taking in the peaceful surroundings. It was easily one of our favorite parts of the trip, and the perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure!

Great apartment with everything you need and sweeping views of Arenal Volcano right from the terrace. The surrounding area offers lovely local walks and hikes, and excellent bird watching.

We absolutely loved our stay in El Castillo! It's very conveniently located near La Fortuna and many good choices to eat and shop, but also secluded and private. The property is indescribably beautiful and unspoiled, and the hike to the private waterfall was like nothing we've ever done before. We saw toucans right off the porch 2 out of 3 mornings! A delicious breakfast was delivered to us on our porch daily by the lovely Lilliam. John and Susan have many special touches available like brochures to nearby attractions, common spices, even enough coffee to brew on your first morning in case you forgot to pick some up! The emails they send ahead of time give detailed directions to not only the rental, but many great places to eat, tour, or visit as well, and helpful hints for getting around. A fantastic choice at a bargain price, you will not be disappointed!!
