Baloo Hostel

Fabulous hostel - hands down the best one I have ever stayed in! The staff were all super lovely, the place is actually genuinely clean and well kempt, it's in a great location and it has great style, character and personality as a place to stay.

The bed itself could have been more comfortable - as usual hostels tend to use the cheapest mattress and it would be lovely, given the nature of disturbance that it's inevitable when sharing a room, that at least if hostels offered more comfortable mattresses it would really help off set the sleep disturbance. That said, I mostly really appreciate that Baloo is a genuinely great place to stay

Clean, friendly staff, nice bar to meet some people, there is a curtain for each bed so you can keep your privacy easily. The location is good, close to 2 metro stations

The area is a bit shady especially at night. There are many homeless people but it seems like they are not really dangerous:)

- the atmosphere of the hostel; - the playlist playing in the common areas; - the free water, coffee, and fruits; - the large kitchen area where you can comfortably cook, eat or chill

The ambience was great, the staff friendly and the place was very clean.

The showers were clogged and the shower heads on and of the shower could be adjusted, resulting in the stream of water aiming straight ahead and needing to hold it by hand in order to take a shower. Additionally, on our last night we had a friend leave a jacket at the front desk to our name but the jacket was mysteriously lost and despite our friend stating he was sure he handed it to the front desk girl, no one at the hostel acknowledged receiving it, and just told us it wasn’t their responsibility. While we understand that, the overall experience with the staff was that they were inexperienced and very disorganized. They asked us to wait for example while their looked for the jacket and then simply forgot they were doing that when we went to the front desk to ask again some hours later. Lastly we booked a bed on a 4 bedroom room but it had 5 beds, when asking they commented “its bookings problem not ours”. Again while that may be true, it just came across very unprofessional.
