Distinction Whangarei Hotel & Conference Centre

Great central Whangarei location. Walking distance to CBD and Hates Loop track.

The room was perfectly adequate and had been recently renovated although the shower in the bathroom was a bit small. The rest of the hotel is looking a bit run down and in need of updating. No lift so had to carry two very heavy suitcases up and down stairs. Noisy neighbours in the corridor and outside room meant disturbed sleep and the air conditioner stopped working mid way through my stay. I used the washing machine once and my clothes came out looking worse than before they were put in so be aware. Food in the restaurant is very good although service can be a bit slow especially if delivered to your room. Staff were all very nice and helpful.

Was a bit noisy with people above us and kids running up and down hallway banging on doors at 7am

Beds were very comfortable, the lighting was all on one switch, so couldn’t have lower dimmed lights on in the evening. The shower was very small. Room entry doors were very noisy as guests came & went, maybe they should all be fitted with an automatic door closure.
