Pasadena Rose & Crown Hotel

I almost hate to write a great review for Pasadena Rose & Crown Hotel (PRC) because I'd rather keep this as a great little secret. I visit Los Angeles area ~3x per year and Pasadena is a great central location for friends, family, shopping and restaurants. The surrounding neighborhoods are quaint and safe. PRC is not technically a hotel or a motel but a hybrid. Some rooms are accessible from the outside, but the majority are hallway accessible only. Recently remodeled and renamed, they did it right. Everything is clean, new, and well thought out. Rooms are roomy; bathrooms are well done. I usually pop my head into empty rooms that are being serviced by housekeeping, and all the rooms (1 & 2 beds) all meet the same standard. They have a small, cute exercise room with mirrors, a very nice washing machine and dryer. Rooms have nice closets with hangers, nice iron and ironing board, safe box, microwave and small refrigerator. Only complaint: the A/C works too well! It is relatively quiet for a wall unit and does the job. I had to keep raising the set point to avoid freezing during the night. Overall, I rate PRC a 4.5/5 motel and a great value, especially given its convenient location to Old Town Pasadena and other amenities.
