The Great House, Sonning, Berkshire

The receptionist, Patsy, was professional, efficient, amusing & most helpful. A great asset to the hotel. Breakfast was excellent but understaffed despite the best efforts of the few on duty.

It was a lovely hotel and the room was gorgeous. We enjoyed a nice drink by the river as the sun was setting and it was so picturesque. However, we stayed during 32 degree heat, and there was a fan but it was still so hot in the bedroom. The bathroom had no air conditioning and it was unbearable to use the bathroom during the heat. Apart from this, it was a lovely stay and I would stay again.

Beautiful cosy double room full of amenities, mini bar, fridge and Nespresso machine, and fresh milk! Lovely modern bathroom. Rooms hot in the heatwave we are experiencing but a fan was provided and I took my own. Hotel provided extra bottled cold water to help which was a nice touch. Loved the local honey given as a gift in the rooms. Had dinner and breakfast. Both very good. Lovely staff team too. Would highly recommend

Great location for the Mill at Sonning and beautiful river walks on the doorstep. Good size room, comfortable bed and very clean all round. We had dinner and breakfast (which you have to book both separately, so book early) and the food was excellent. The wine is rather pricey!
