Solar Antigo Luxury Coimbra

My husband and I travel a ton and this place is one of the best we've ever stayed at. Not only is it a very unique and beautiful property, the staff and customer service were as good as it gets. We were greeted with a mimosa and some sweet bread and we were provided a picnic basket breakfast in bed that was superb. We were so impressed. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and the hotel is well maintained with a really cool bougie meets old world charm vibe.

We had a two night stay at the Solar Antigo Coimbra. The Pros about the property are: unique accomodations, very nice staff & nice breakfast brought to your room each morning. The cons: The room (at least we the one we got on the main level) was very small, there is no privacy between the shower, toilet and the rest of the room. Our room was right beside reception and when i mean right beside, I mean when we opened our door new guests checking in were right there blocking our doorway. We were also bothered by guests checking in late or stopping to chat with the person at the front desk who would have long & loud conversations right outside our door at 10:30pm. The reception closes at 11 so this wasn't a problem after that. It was an experience, but I'm not sure I would do it again.

Staff was very nice. This is not the easiest place to get to. Located on a narrow alley and parking is very challenging. It is also multi level with stairs. So if stairs are an issue, keep this in mind. Haven’t stayed at a split foyer hotel room before. But the foyer did come complete with a swooning sofa, TV and padded/quilted wall. A bit of noise but not what i would call disturbing. Quirky little place but we really liked it. Also had a HUGE hot tub. Breakfast delivered to your room; very nice!

We stayed in a 17th century building and the room was really cool. There’s a big round style jetted tub in the room. That was also really nice after a long day of walking. My favorite part was breakfast brought to our room in a big basket.
