Royalton Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort

Hotel in general was lovely and idyllically located on a beautiful beach. Pool area was just off of beach and was also very nice with various pools Our room was a sea view suite, it was a good size and amenities were great. Had to ask a few times for the minibar to be refilled otherwise it was done. It was a little worn in places but served us well. Your all inclusive wrist band is the door key which is a great idea as never have to worry who has the key. Food buffet was ok at best for lunch and dinner, strange combinations of food, sometimes not hot enough and frequently ran out. Breakfast was very good with a great selection. Speciality restaurants were excellent and definitely worth a visit. Bars frequently ran out of cocktail ingredients and sometimes had to wait a long time for your drinks as there didn’t seem to be any system to prepare them. Generally the staff were lovely and helpful.

Overall, we had a good stay and I would give this resort 4 out of 5 stars. What I loved was that everything was conveniently located. The pools were right next to the beach, making it easy to go back and forth, and the bar was excellent. The bartenders were friendly, welcoming, and provided great service throughout our stay. One disappointment was that I requested a room with two double beds because I was traveling with my 14-year-old daughter and my 10-year-old son, but the request could not be accommodated. As a result, my daughter had to sleep on the sofa bed, which only converted into a twin-size bed. I also found that some staff members seemed bothered when we asked questions, and a few of the hostesses were not very friendly. We stayed for three nights, and our room was only cleaned once during our stay. The food was actually very good, with plenty of variety, unlike some of the reviews I had read beforehand. The biggest disappointment was the steak restaurant. We were only able to get a reservation for two people, even though there were three of us. The restaurant also advertised a dress code, but many guests arrived wearing flip-flops, sweatpants, and very casual clothing without any issue. Our reservation was for 8:30 p.m. We arrived early but still waited about 15 minutes to be seated. After that, it took approximately 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it did, it was cold. I stayed at the Royalton with my family to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday. The beach was beautiful and the staff overall was lovely. Super Dave from the vibe team was especially helpful one of the times when we had issues getting transport for my father. My main complaint is that we chose the resort because we had previously stayed at Royaltons and they were good for people who may not be able to walk long distances due to the buggies that are used for transportation. However, we had ongoing challenges at this Royalton obtaining a buggy for my father, which was concerning since he is 90. We were also disappointed that not much Antiguan food was served, as my father was born in Antigua and we enjoy local food. In addition, there were several times when the buffet restaurant ran out of certain dishes and appeared to be quite short staffed. The staff, in my opinion, tried to do the best that they could and were very pleasant but it was apparent that they did not have sufficient staffing for many sections of the resort.
