La Bayardine

This was an AMAZING stay. Beautiful location and wonderful hosts. The drive up to the place took getting used to, but we expected that with a rental car. We stayed during the terrible heat wave and it was absolutely our safe haven during this part of our vacation. Thank you to our wonderful hosts - the breakfast was much appreciated with croissants and chocolatine and coffee every morning. Merci beaucoup. We hope to come back!

I would like to explain why I did not give this property a 5-star rating. First of all, Frank was an exceptionally kind, welcoming, and helpful host. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome and showed outstanding hospitality. The property is also very well located if you want to visit Sarlat and the surrounding area. Unfortunately, we visited during an extremely hot period. The property does not have air conditioning or a swimming pool, while many neighboring homes do have pools, which would have made a significant difference during our stay. On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent, and Frank made sure we were very well taken care of every morning. What truly disappointed us was the attitude of Frank’s wife. From the very beginning, she was unfriendly and unwelcoming. On the day of our departure, we checked out at 9:00 a.m. because we wanted to visit the Sarlat market. Frank kindly allowed us to leave our luggage at the property while we were away. We returned around 11:30 a.m. to collect our bags, and before starting our drive, we simply needed to use the restroom. Unfortunately, only his wife was there, and she flatly refused to let us use the bathroom. That experience left us with a very negative final impression of what had otherwise been a pleasant stay. 👎👎👎

Nelly and Frank could not have been more welcoming! The property is lovely with shared kitchen facilities available and a wonderful breakfast provided each morning. Frank was helpful with recommending day trips as we explored the beautiful Dordogne region. I would happily recommend this property to anyone looking for accommodation in Sarlat.
