The hosts could not have been more helpful. The copper room was better than I expected, with a very large comfortable bed, an area to eat, lots of tea & coffee and even fresh milk. The en suit was well designed with a large shower and good quality soft towels. I would not hesitate to return or recommend, this is one of the best rooms we have rented.

I received a warm and friendly welcome from Tommy when I arrived and he kindly offered me a lift to a nearby venue the next day (I was in Braunton for a wedding). The room itself is large (huge bed!) and comfortable, with a small kitchenette in the corner that includes a fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, though do note, there are no cooking facilities. This was fine for me (-I brought muesli with me.) Everything was clean and comfortable. There's also a seating area outside for your morning coffee. Thistledene is just 2 minutes from a bus stop from Barnstaple station, if you are travelling by train. From the same bus stop, buses take you to Saunton beach and Ilfracombe in 20-30 mins. The village centre is a seven minute walk away and there's a handy co-op store as well as restaurants and independent shops, a small wildlife centre and museum. I would stay there again.
