Great hotel, generous size room in a good location.

Excellent all around, the view from the rooms alone is worth staying here. 10/10

A stylish and highly enjoyable stay I had an excellent stay at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon. My corner room was superb and flawless, with floor-to-ceiling windows, warm design, automated blinds, a capsule coffee machine, excellent rain shower and TOTO washlet. Breakfast was another highlight. The à la carte dishes were excellent and the staff very accommodating. The buffet itself was not very vegetarian-friendly and varied from day to day, but whenever I asked for something – papaya, pumpkin seeds, vegetarian som tam or stir-fried vegetables without fish or oyster sauce – the staff did their best to provide it. My advice to vegetarians: ask. The main-lobby and breakfast teams were consistently warm and welcoming. Service at the ground-floor entrance was more mixed; one evening I said “good evening” twice to a staff member and received no acknowledgement, which I found surprisingly rude for a five-star hotel. My departure experience there, however, was excellent. My other disappointment was that my high-floor request was not acknowledged and I received floor 10 despite guest floors above. The view was still good, but I would have appreciated an explanation. The pool area was lovely, the steam room effective, WhatsApp communication very convenient, and the complimentary Mahanakhon Sky Beach access with a drink was a great extra. The location is excellent, close to the BTS and many restaurants. Overall, a great stay. I would happily return.
