Poor communication, inattentive host, and a smell impossible to sleep with

Nice enough place in a pretty good location, but there were problems (see below):

Why staying here sucked for me: * I sent a message the evening before arrival asking about check-in procedure. No response was received until almost 12 hours later and by then I was on a ferry with no wi-fi so I arrived without seeing it. There was no signage saying "A due passi...". I only recognized it from the photo. But there was no obvious reception. I had to hunt around for a while to find a guest who spoke English and find out that the reception was in the bar on the corner up the street. Why wasn't this mentioned in the booking detail instead of just in a message the morning of my arrival when I had no wifi? * I walk with a cane and have braces on both knees, but the host didn't offer to carry my single luggage up the stairs or even wait for me as I struggled to drag it up. * BIGGEST PROBLEM: All of the bed linens, the mattress, towels and even the bath mat had an overpowering smell of cheap, over-perfumed soap. I informed the host of this and that I could not sleep with that smell and his response was that I should open all the windows and run the AC on fan. No offer to put me in another room or give me linens and towels that didn't stink. I tried doing what he said but it made little difference. Then I tried running everything through an extended rinse cycle in the washing machine, but it also didn't make much difference. I ended up putting all the linens and towels and the bath mat on the smelly mattress, closing the bedroom door and sleeping on the couch for my three nights. Eventually, just after I left, the host sent a message finally apologizing for the smell. I requested a partial refund as compensation but he never responded. Staying at this hotel ruined my visit to Ischia.

Great. The host was very kind and held our bags after checkout until our ferry.

Not included but bar next door and on a street full of bars and restaurants.

All great.

Appartement charmant idéal pour un couple, et possible pour 2 couples maximum s en utilisant le canapé convertible dans le séjour-cuisine.

Le canapé convertible est moins confortable que le lit
