Shizuya KYOTO

Very clean. Shower room was nice, wash basin was always clean and they provided all amenities needed including face wash, oil, cotton buds and cotton pads. Bedroom was lovely - bottom beds are straight on the floor, not elevated. Loads of space to store bags right next to the beds. And the beds have curtains for privacy. Very small safe is provided in the room - good for passport or money but nothing bigger than flat paper size. Small common area at reception with some floor seating and 2 high stalls. Microwave and kettle, and washing facilities (coin laundry) are available. Bus stop located directly outside, or about a 15 min walk to Kyoto Station.

As a solo traveller, I didn’t meet many people here. It wasn’t a social hostel, very quiet and people tended to only stay for one or two nights. If you’re after social vibes it probably isn’t the place.

Me and my friend stayed in our own separate bunk-room which was perfect for us and our 2 huge bags! The smell as we walked in was amazing we still talk about it til this day! The showers were perfect and they provided shampoo, body-wash and conditioner! The kitchen area was perfect and they provided things like cups, plates and bowls AND even tea bags, instant soup and salt/sugar! Kyoto was definitely one of my favourite places I have been too and this place made it even better! The bus station is about a 2 minute walk away and theres convenience stores just across the road. If you go over the bridge it takes you right to a train station which can get you easily to the centre, same as the bus!

Clean hostel with interesting way of sleeping. Very small room but everything was clean and staff were very nice and kind!
