It is in a good location

But the location is off. I found the Asian side of Istanbul very dirty. We large rooms are on the 4th floor. We struggles to carry our luggage and baby all the way up. The noise from the rooms next door was very audible, disturbing our baby sleep. But everything else was fine, the guy at the reception couldn’t speak English but was very kind.

Excellent location 2 minutes walk from ferry terminal and 10 minutes walk from Metro station.

There is no lift in the hotel and tough going up and down few times a day.

Pros: Friendly receptionist. Internet and air conditioning worked. The bed was fine. Location was ok. Clean bathroom and that loocked god. Room looked clean overall (7/10)

But: Although the staff at the Hotel Cemre reception were friendly, they didn't give us any instructions or say a word; they just showed us to our room in another building—presumably because they didn't speak English. Not recommended for solo female travelers. Our room was two buildings away from the hotel; we never actually entered the hotel shown on Booking, but rather a small rental apartment building. The main door uses a key fob. There is no sign indicating it is a hotel or part of Hotel Cemre. I don't even know if that's legal; it certainly doesn't look very professional. There is no reception desk. The rooms are numbered, but the entrance looks like a storage area attempting to be a creepy, dark lounge; right next to it is an open basement area. The light turns on and off automatically after just a few seconds. If I hadn't been with a friend, I wouldn't have dared to enter while traveling alone. The stairs are steep and dangerous; the treads are too short to fit your whole foot, so you have to pay close attention. The rooms look nothing like the photos on Booking. I booked this hotel because it had good ratings and photos of very nice rooms, but the reality was different. No room service. The towels were washed, but it was obvious that no bleach or strong stain-removal products had been used; there were stains, possibly from oil. The sheets looked clean, but again, they likely hadn't been washed with bleach or whitener. The sheets were itchy, and I broke out in hives as soon as I got into bed. Peeling paint on the walls; a hole in the wall bigger than my fist. You can hear everything going on outside and in the other rooms. It was a disappointing room considering the rather high nightly rate. It felt like a rip-off—getting less than what I paid for (or at least less than what was shown on Booking)—and, above all, never actually setting foot in the hotel shown on the platform.
