Bra läge, nära Mt Haguro. Fantastisk mat, vackert upplagd.

Very authentic stay with very friendly staff, who were very accommodating with our requests (providing us with hot water and ice cubes on request, and also ordering a taxi for us on our final morning). The shojin ryori food was superb - it is a speciality of the region that fish is included so if you are vegetarian or vegan be sure to tell the staff. We stayed more than one night and the menu varied for us every day. All very calm around the Shukubos even when mt haguro was busy due to Japanese bank holiday. Appreciated the onsen after a day spent hiking. The morning prayer at 7am put you in the right mood for climbing the sacred mountains.
It is a shame that the proprietors do not speak more English as we would have liked to have chatted with them - lovely people. It’s also a shame there isn’t outdoor seating to enjoy their gardens / surroundings. The property feels a little dated in places, but it was still perfectly comfortable.

Warm, kind, welcoming people who treated us like family. Clean, spacious rooms. Delicious home cooked meals, presented in an immaculate traditional style. Peaceful, serene atmosphere. The family who own Daishinbo have thoroughly maintained the ancient cultural traditions and practices, providing a beautiful spiritual experience.
