The Speech House Hotel

Strikingly looking hotel. Unfortunately on entering reception, we were greeted with a dirty carpet, which carries on into the bar area with lots of stains. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs, which I wasn't aware of when I booked. Therefore, in this heatwave, the room was an oven. There was a desk fan - 'thank goodness'. Pleased with the room, the layout and amenities. Curtains need seeing to, useless and need blackouts! All the staff were pleasant and hard working. Did not expect a buffet breakfast, felt like a Travel Lodge!! We only had breakfast which was okay and ordered sandwiches late one night, which were very nice. Overall, a pleasant stay, the heat didn't help. We thought it was overpriced for what it was.

The Speech House is a lovely historic building in the most magnificent setting in the Forest of Dean. The staff was exceptional, the food was wonderful, parking was easy. The only downside was the size of our room being rather small.

Beautiful hotel steeped in history. Room was clean with good facilities; food was excellent.

Nice hotel, clean with good sized accommodation, easy parking and sensibly priced drinks. Did not eat there so cannot comment on food. I would definitely stay again.
