We wanted to stay in Bad Gastien but due to no availability there, we stayed in Hot Bad Gastien and chose the Hotel Salzburghof. This was such a pleasant surprise! The village is lovely, and the hotel is great. The restaurant is lovely with nice food, They offer an amazing breakfast and the rooms are very comfortable. Don't be put off by the green carpet - this place is a gem! We really enjoyed visiting the the Therma in Hot Bad Gastien, which we preferred to the one in Bad Gastien, going on local hikes and taking the bus up the valley to Bad Gastien. There's so much to do and it's easy to get around without a car.

Fantastic stay. Great restaurant. I really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner options. Very popular place to have a drink. The owner is hands on and sponsors a variety of public events like blass band and other performers outside the hotel square. 2nd floor has a massive balcony patio, library, reading room, etc. There’s also the ability to rent an ev car or bike right from hotel. All guests I talked to enjoyed their stay and other locals in town have called it a hot spot for hanging out. One thing that is NOT unique to Austria at all is lack of AC. That is just how just about every hotel is going to be so it requires some planning on opening windows and such. I had a single room and it was great for a solo traveler including a comfortable chair and desk to work at. Plenty of room. Great bed.
