Sultanahmet district is where Istanbul's most visited attractions are located. Thus, your accommodation choices in this area abound and range from budget to luxury hotels. Keep in mind that you will be in the immediate vicinity of several mosques and that the morning call to prayers is quite early. If you are a light sleeper, you may wish to spend the extra money in order to access the protection of the double-pane windows in a luxury hotel. Personally, I enjoyed the melodious chants and thought it made my stay all the more pleasant. I was fortunate to have found a brand new apartment hotel where the owner is eager to please. In fact, it was a pleasure to meet someone who hasn't been jaded by a prolonged exposure to outlandish and demanding tourists. He does not speak English, but you can simply drop by the tour operator next door who is courteous and happy to liaise and communicate your desires to the hotel owner. As a final note, I would ask anyone reading this to understand that this hotel is indeed a gem at the given price. However, it is not a place where you will be happy if you expect to be provided, on demand, with a glass of hot milk at three o'clock in the morning. It is a hotel particularly well suited to respectful and genteel tourists.
