Koraku-an is a beautiful Ryokan. We wanted to experience staying in a traditional Japanese home and this place was perfect. Rika was so nice and she even went out of her way to wait for our Uber to help direct it to Koraku-an on our last day. Over all, our experience with Koraku-an was wonderful and excellent.

Property was everything we expected it to be. A traditional and cultural Japanese experience.

Our stay was very enjoyable in a lovely authentic traditional guesthouse with all you need. Extremely helpful info guide prepared by owner Rika. Quiet and safe area Steep stairs for navigating to upstair bedrooms but option of sleeping downstairs too.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful Kyoto house. The house was very clean and so well cared for, with so many charming traditional details, and has been renovated with all the modern comforts that you may need. Rika is such a lovely person and an excellent host - she truly went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was comfortable (even when I made an error in the booking!). She was very attentive and quick to respond to any communications, even taking the time to say goodbye at check-out. The neighbourhood is quiet and residential, but was close to transit + buses, and was a welcome change from the Kyoto crowds during sakura season. It was a privilege to meet Rika and stay here, we cannot recommend it enough!
