Picture-perfect Icelandic countryside retreat
Hotel Lækur was one of the highlights of our time in Southern Iceland. This charming, family-run hotel is set in a postcard-perfect location, just 10 km from Hella, making it an ideal base for exploring the region’s waterfalls, glaciers, black sand beaches, and other natural wonders.
We stayed in one of the bright yellow cabins, which was warm, cosy, and exceptionally well insulated from the Icelandic weather. It featured comfortable beds, a small lounge area, and a well-appointed bathroom—everything we needed after a day of adventure.
The main house has a welcoming restaurant where the family and staff serve delicious, home-cooked meals with genuine Icelandic hospitality. Their warmth and friendliness made us feel right at home.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, authentic place to stay while exploring Southern Iceland, I highly recommend Hotel Lækur.
If you’d like, I can also make it a little more personal and reflective, in the style of your other Europe travel reviews.
