We loved our stay at the Pelican hotel. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the location is gorgeous, and the atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed and congenial. There is a lot of great hiking in the region and our river cabin was absolutely charming. We would be delighted to come back.

The garden and pool are just lovely. We have never seen so many different types of birds in a hotel garden before. The location is really peaceful and quiet. The restaurant is really good too, but it doesn't open every night.
This is a rural location, so I suppose some insects are to be expected. However, something unseen was constantly consuming the timbers in the ceiling and dropping sawdust down onto the bedsheets. The hotel should really fix this somehow.

The location can't be beat -- I was able to walk to Kapi Kapi and La Estrella easily. The staff are really nice. The grounds are really lovely and well landscaped; lots of birds!
My cabin wasn't very clean (the floor mostly), and some things were a little janky (the wall fan, toilet seat, shower faucets, porch light). I was really disappointed that the hot tub wasn't hot (same temp as pool). I ordered the trout casado for dinner and it was totally raw inside at the thickest part; my server offered to replace it, but I declined and just ate the rest of the meal, which was great.
