Savage Hostel Koh Tao

Excellent location at Sairee beach, good buzz around the hostel, clean and comfortable, friendly staff

The location was really good. Right in the middle of walking street by Sairee Beach. Plenty of food options nearby and a big 7-11 a few minutes walks away. I loved the rooftop area - although the pool is very shallow, it was nice to relax up on the beanbags or benched seating areas with a view of the sea. The beds were spacious and had little safes built in which was convenient. The hostel hosts daily activities such as snorkelling, hiking and other adventures which were free to take part in unless there was a small entrance fee. I loved taking part and met some lovely people doing so. It was a really good way to see more of the island since I do not rent bikes. All the daytime staff are very friendly and accommodating. They do their best to help with any issues. They are very welcoming. There are areas to hang up your clothing/towels to dry which is good after being at the beach/snorkelling etc. There are 3 different communal chill out areas which are all comfortable and really made my stay enjoyable.

There is a lack of space to get changed privately. It’s all mixed communal areas with male and female. The toilets and showers are all mixed and the toilets were often out of order. It would be nice to have a small changing area for females to be able to get washed/dressed privately. The doors are very noisy when being opened and closed. It’s a bit more on the pricey side for a hostel.

best hostel i’ve ever stayed at!! so clean and nice. very cute bar upstairs with a smoking area and amazing view right out to the beach. it is basically 10 metres from the beach

The hostel is very stylish, the staff were friendly and the location is excellent. The beds were clean and good towels were provided. It has a pool on the rooftop and offers some events (with limited spots).

While the hostel is stylish, it surely wasn't built with the guests in mind. The dorm rooms were 14 beds each and 3 or 4 of those rooms had to share 5 toilets and showers. The rooms have no window and lights that are either on continuously or turn on each time someone moves through the room. The corridor to the bathrooms is visible from the streets, so anyone walking past could see you going to the loo at night. The pool on the rooftop is nice, but not undercover or very deep, which makes it rather warm and not very refreshing. The hostel was also not very social, so don't recommend it for solo travellers. Also, the room key deposit was 1,000THB, which I thought was too much. Every other hotel or hostel were charging max 300THB
