The Waterford Arms

The staff were welcoming and friendly. Little touches such as showing us to our room and checking we had found parking OK. The room was really cosy with a fabulous view out to sea, with plenty of tea and coffee ready. In proper mugs too.... always a bonus. Our room was number 5. Right at the end of the corridor so quiet. There was a great selection of leaflets of local attractions and a few magazines on a display table so we had a good browse for a few ideas too. We ate both nights in the hotel and the food was gorgeous. Generous portions at prices that made us with it was our local. There are some fabulous walks from right outside and we never moved the car. Take time to mooch around the little harbour and take a moment looking at the view. We walked into Whitley Bay, calling at St Mary's lighthouse which is spectacular. Stunning views and the chance to see seals on the rocks.

Great location with harbour view room. Bar is good value for drinks, snacks and main meals with good choice. Staff always helpfull.

Location. Room was clean & comfortable. All food was tasty and there was a good choice. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We loved the room, the location and the friendly staff, but the experience was spoilt by the presence of large noisy dogs in the restaurant area.

Noisy dogs in the dining area. I found this so offputting that i avoided the dining area. These two dogs were rewarded for barking by the owners feeding them large dried pigs ears on the floor. The noise of the dogs crunching these items was loud enough to be heard clearly at the opposite end of the room. When they were finished there was a pool of saliva and crumbs left on the dining room floor.
