The Majestic Malacca, Melaka - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

It is lovely colonial style hotel away from the crowds but still in walking distance of the historic Dutch centre. We had a decent room with a comfortable bed and the Staff were very friendly.

I have to say the breakfast was pretty poor. You get served a bit of fruit to start which is ok. On the first day we were also offered yogurt but it never materialised and thereafter it was never offered again. Then there's a very small help yourself buffet area with 4 types of sugary cereal - a few things you can add, specifically chia seeds, flaked almonds, dried sweet kiwi - and a bakery section which has some packet sliced bread, small croissants, pain au chocolats, chocolate muffins and a type of pastry with a few jams. None of this food is particularly healthy or good quality. Finally there is an a la carte offering for hot food. It's mostly local food which is absolutely not a problem but what I feel is, is that there isn't much else on offer and the majority of local dishes include fish/seafood which my partner can't eat. There was a full English which was dreadful and then there was a shakshuka type dish which was ok. That's it though. They were kind enough to make me an omelette but it was literally served on a plate on its own - not even a garnish of any sort. It tasted absolutely fine but honestly, for this kind of hotel, I think the breakfast should be considerably better. It might have been ok for one night but for three nights it was just too limited. On a minor note, I would say the pool and pool area is super small and cramped with sun loungers that are moulded so you can't actually lie on your front.

Perfect Breakfast Choices, freshly cooked for us, we thought it was one of the best breakfast this trip for all 3 days in Malaysia.

We were impressed by everything , sad thing was that some entitled customers treated staff badly, we saw that, and the staff were so polite back, I hope management supports these staff and kicks out people who treat staff with the manner we observed on Friday 9/10/26. It was most appalling.

The location.

We are old people in the eighties. The hotel is not old people friendly - No lift access to the restaurant which is located at the first floor of the old heritage building - my wife could not walk up the high stairs for dinner and they could not bring the food down to the Library because they were busy with a function. Also the wheelchair lift to the lift lobby had broken down - hence we had to up up the steps to the lift lobby (these limitations are NOT clearly stated to potential customers)
