Iya Kankou Ryokan

The location and meals were amazing. The woman who runs this place is such a sweetheart. She checked us in an determined our preferences in a lightening quick way, showed us around the property and gave us recommendations for the surrounding area. It felt less like staying at a hotel and more like staying with a friends grandmother who wanted to take care of you and make sure you were well fed! 10 out of 10!

Nothing, everything was great.

Very nice traditional style hotel, well located for travel further into the valley. Very nice staff, and very good vegetarian food. It is tall and thin, so there are very steep stairs which might cause a problem if you're old or infirm. Note it does have a shared traditional bath (you use it one at a time, and I guess a couple could go in together), and shared toilets/washing facilities which are completely standard for traditional hotels.

Such a nice quiet remote place run by a so sweet old lady, and who speaks English much better than most of other hosts I've met. Unforgettable experience.

Winter doona in summer, 2 toilets and 1 shower for 12 people. Overpriced including food and drinks.
