Albergo Diffuso Vulcano Village

The property was perfection, from the beautifully prepared food at the restaurant, to the incredibly kind staff. There was a peacefulness.

Lake Iseo and the surrounding villages are so beautiful. Castro itself is quiet, but it's only a short walk to Lovere which has a wider variety of transport options and eateries, although there are a couple of options in Castro. The hotel restaurant is great and very reasonably priced. We usually like to eat at different places, but after having an awesome pasta dish, we had to go back and try the amazing pizza. There is a bar next door and a snack bar opposite that serves drinks and pastries, which is perfect to watch the sunset over the lake. The staff at Vulcano Village are amazing. The ferry schedule to/from Castro unexpectedly changed to weekends only the day after we arrived (until March 2027 I believe) and we were supported with finding alternative transport to other areas including Boario Terme where the hotel helped with booking the spa, which was lovely. Booking through the hotel also gave us a 20% discount, which was a nice surprise. The TV and fridge in the room were good and we could access all the usual apps in our home language.

It's hard to give any negatives from what was a really lovely break, so I can only think of minor things that didn't really detract much from our stay. The room was a little hot in the night, but that is my own fault for not checking if there was aircon but we did have a fan, which helped. The pillows were quite plump for our liking but the bed was comfortable.

Big, clean bedroom.

Toilet was large but uncomfortable. No toilet seat cover and the toilet was in a strange location, no bench or shelf for toiletries. The hair dryer was old style and not powerful enough to dry anything. The kitchen had nothing to boil water. No wifi password given. We had to go back to reception to ask. It would have been useful to have had some bottles of water in the fridge.
