Ivanhoe Hotel (A Heritage Property)

This is the best place to stay in Darjeeling. The welcome we received was fantastic. The whole place is so clean and the room we stayed in was spacious, well kept and immaculate. Plenty of hot water, a heater and electric blanket provided for chillier nights. The breakfast was superb, and plentiful. We loved this wonderful heritage property and it's lovely staff so much we have booked to stay for longer. It was also perfectly situated for The Mall and the observation point.

Everything was excellent—the size of the room, the atmosphere, the comfort of the bed, the breakfast, and the shower's water pressure and temperature. Above all, the staff were wonderful. I am confident in recommending this hotel to others.

It is unavoidable given the building's age, but the room tends to get stuffy and humid during the monsoon season. Installing an exhaust fan in the bathroom might help alleviate the issue somewhat.

We arrived like drowned rats in the middle of a storm at night. The staff made us tea on arrival and turned the heater on so we could dry off and warm up in our room.The breakfasts have been super generous with both Indian and western options. The room is spacious and bed firm yet comfy. The location is perfect. 200 metre hike round the corner for an observation site to see the Himalayas. Many attractions can be walked to - but you need strong legs. What more could you want all wrapped up in a historic hotel with so much nostalgia

Taxi wouldn’t take us to the entrance as it’s in a ravine of small hotels and shops. However it was only a short walk off the main road once you know. Suggest not arriving at night
