We had an excellent stay at Nena's! The house has the old Outer Banks feel to it, in a good way!Being right on the beach was a huge plus to see sunrises every morning coming over the ocean horizon. Beign there on July 4th, we got quite the fireworks show for miles up and down the beach and including the show at Avalon Pier. There is a convenient boardwalk from the house to the top of the dune for getting to the beach, but you do climb up on the way back but that is to be expected with the Outer Banks. The owner was responsive to an issue with the outside screen door and had the door replaced during our stay and kept good communication. We had 3 adults 2, grown teenagers, and 3 dogs, and while it was tight it was still comfortable.If you are planning to be mainly on the beach or go shopping and use Nena's as a home base for rest, this place is perfect!

Lovely, pet friendly, cozy cottage with ocean front view which was perfect for watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Direct access to beach. Initially a little concerned about short driveway and backing onto road but was not an issue. Central for accessing activities, restaurants and shops. Nice enclosed oceanfront porch which is great for eating meals or sitting and relaxing without having to worry about weather. Kitchen is well equipped with cooking supplies and dish ware for meals. Quick response to our messages.

We enjoyed sitting on the porch to watch the waves and listen to them crashing on the beach. We also loved the direct access to the beach. This was our first trip to the beach with our rescue dog; and the setup was great for us to introduce him to the beach, which he loved exploring.

Overall okay stay and would probably stay again. Pros: great location on beach, comfortable king bed, working TVs, washer and dryer, pet friendly!Cons: pet fee requirement wasn’t listed on website, AC was broken and house got up to 83degs, strong septic smell in house (we didn’t do any loads of laundry), and had to wash utensils and clean out/soak whole coffee machine before they were usable.
