Hitchin Priory Hotel

Excellent breakfast. Excellent location, quiet and central. The rooms were very clean.

The decor was rather dated and in need of upgrade.

We stayed for our wedding weekend, alongside our family and wedding party, who we split between the main hotel and inn depending on requirements. My bridal suite was gorgeous, hotel staff were incredibly attentive, breakfast was fantastic, evening in the bar were fab, and honestly it was such great value too. Once you step off the hotel’s gorgeous grounds and straight into town. I could recommend either location enough, but the hotel is something really special. Special thanks to David for organising our stay and looking after us from at every stage. He’s an absolute gem! All hotel staff were fantastic, but we worked with David from the start to end of our stay and definitely plan to be back even though we live locally. We had such a great time we’ve decided the Priory Hotel is definitely the perfect place to sneak off for a night to ourselves without the kids, although they were brilliant with all of our children too, sometimes you just need a break to be two adults in a lovely spot without them.

We leave with anything negatives. Honestly I wish we’d booked to stay longer!

Very dated but a lovely setting very clean and close to the town

No hot water only lukewarm but I guess you should expect that due to the age of the building

Location & history

Tired, scruffy & dated. Bedroom was acceptable but bathroom not. Tiny shower cubicle with dripping shower that couldn’t produce hot water
