Starting in Hoorn, you can take the steam train, which will take you straight through the West Frisian countryside to Medemblik. From there, you can take a boat across the IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen, where you can visit the Enkhuizen Open-Air Museum. Here you can experience the old 18th-century atmosphere, among the characteristic, historic fishermen’s cottages and the 16th-century church, all originating from various fishing villages around the former Zuiderzee.
